Sapura Technics goes live with AMOS

At a glance

  • Sapura Technics and Swiss-AS inked a deal in November 2019
  • “Go Live” with AMOS after a six month implementation project

On the 29th November 2019, Sapura Technics obtained its first Part 145 provisional approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM). In parallel, the company signed for the AMOS MRO Edition to take advantage of the latest AMOS pure MRO features in order to manage its line and base maintenance activities.

Started in January 2020, this new AMOS implementation project consolidates Swiss-AS’ presence in Malaysia and the APAC region. Sapura Technics represents a newborn star in the region’s MRO market, and working in a close relationship with their young and motivated team was an exciting and productive way to focus on the key success factor and the potentials of AMOS in their pure MRO business.

Ronald Schaeuffele, CEO of Swiss-AS, states that “the commitment of the Sapura Technics’ project team during these difficult times deserves full recognition and respect. At all times during the implementation, the project team remained focused on their ultimate objective to successfully implement AMOS within time and budget. Sapura fully embraced the performance of online sessions such as “Virtual Instructor-Led Training”, which in part, helped them to navigate the challenges presented by the Covid-19 crisis.”

After a six month implementation phase, Sapura Technics successfully went “live” with AMOS release 19.6 on the 1st of July 2020. The completion of this milestone enables Sapura Technics’ supply chain and commercial department to use AMOS productively in their day-to-day operations. It also opens up the AMOS system to the engineering and planning end users for the definition of detailed customer requirements and work instructions, and the facility and resources planning operations respectively.

It is expected that the first heavy maintenance check to be carried out by Sapura Technics will be in the next quarter, assuming that there will not be another major wave of the current COVID-19 pandemic. As agreed with the customer, this launch event will see our AMOS APAC team providing its on-site support at Sapura Technics hangar facilities located at Senai International Airport – provided the easing of the travel restrictions to Malaysia is realised.

Syahril Shariff of Sapura Technics, says “we are excited to have the AMOS system “live” on time despite the current global pandemic. Starting with AMOS from the onset as a new MRO, allows us to embark on industry best practices utilising new applications and big data technologies such as paperless MRO delivering fastest turn around time of aircraft base maintenance. Other than the expected efficiency in the areas of planning and production, the MRO system will allow faster response time to market for quotations and digital advantage of sending and receiving packages from our customers in electronic format”

After a period of stabilisation, Sapura Technics will launch the implementation of AMOSmobile to equip its mechanics with a functional platform that supports daily line and base maintenance paperless activities. With this fully integrated AMOS add-on, staff has access to live data and is given the chance to record all activities directly at the aircraft, without having to go to the office for reporting.
