AMOS is built on a modular, service-oriented architecture with a pure Java application server backend. It delivers scalability and flexibility across hardware platforms, operating systems, virtualised environments, and cloud deployments. VM and cloud installations are fully supported.

The architecture is based entirely on open standards. No proprietary runtime or application server is required, enabling continuous innovation without disrupting operations. New functions, updates, and integrations can be introduced step by step while core processes remain stable.

Apart from the database backend (Oracle or PostgreSQL), no additional external software components are required. Client and application server are delivered out of the box, reducing complexity and operational overhead.

Standardised interfaces enable connectivity with ERP systems, flight operations, analytics platforms, and ecosystem solutions such as AVIATAR and flydocs, supporting end-to-end digital Tech Ops processes. Communication is fully HTTP/HTTPS compliant, compatible with common network components, and supports encrypted and compressed data exchange.

The Adaptive Integration Manager enables flexible integration across a wide range of scenarios.

An integrated workflow engine allows organisations to customise system behaviour. The rule engine supports complex decision logic in a clear and structured way.

The integrated Report Designer enables the creation, compilation, and release of reports and forms directly within the AMOS user interface. Reports can be assigned to specific user roles without external tools.

AMOS supports long-term innovation without system redesign. Mobile solutions, electronic logbooks, and data-driven maintenance can be introduced incrementally, protecting customer investments and supporting digital transformation.

Continuous development includes electronic signature, AMOSmobile, multi-entity and multi-operator capabilities, and ongoing research into emerging technologies such as wearable devices, 3D visualisation, IPv6 networking, and high-availability solutions.

AMOS provides high-level security with encrypted communication, secure keystore for credentials and certificates, and integration with identity management systems such as Microsoft Active Directory via LDAP and Kerberos. Standalone authentication, granular access control, authorised login restrictions, biometric devices, and integrated electronic signing with PDF/A archiving are fully supported.

With regular releases, AMOS continuously evolves while remaining fully compatible with customer digital ecosystems. The platform combines a full-feature desktop environment with a role-optimised mobile experience for maximum operational flexibility.

AMOSdesktop is a native application for Windows, macOS, and Linux, offering unrestricted access, consistent user experience, and fully automated updates with zero deployment effort.

AMOSmobile is optimised for touch use directly at the aircraft and in the store, supporting Android and iOS. It enables paperless operations, real-time data access, and offline capability where required. Both environments operate on the same backend, ensuring seamless integration and consistent data across the entire application suite.

AMOS evolves through continuous input from a global customer base. Swiss-AS combines expertise from the SWISS and Lufthansa Group with community-driven innovation to ensure the system keeps pace with industry needs.

Around half of Swiss-AS staff is dedicated to product development. Close collaboration with industry bodies such as the ATA e-Business Program ensures early alignment with regulatory changes and contribution to future industry standards.
